Itinerary

Arrival & Acclimatization: Leh is located at a high altitude (around 3,500 meters), so it's essential to acclimatize to avoid altitude sickness. Rest: Take it easy today, drink plenty of water, and allow your body to adjust to the altitude. Leh Market: In the evening, you can explore Leh market for a light stroll, grab a bite to eat, and shop for souvenirs if you feel up to it.

Start early for a day of local sightseeing. The main attractions you can visit are: Shanti Stupa: A peaceful spot offering panoramic views of Leh town. Leh Palace: A historical site that gives you a glimpse into Ladakhi history and culture. Hemis Monastery: One of the largest and most famous monasteries in Ladakh. Thiksey Monastery: Known for its impressive architecture and stunning views of the valley. Spituk Monastery: A small but charming monastery with great views of the surrounding landscape. Return to Leh by evening.

Route: The journey from Leh to Nubra Valley will take you via the Khardung La Pass (5,359 meters), one of the highest motorable roads in the world. The pass is a popular tourist stop for photos and to admire the high-altitude surroundings. Nubra Valley: Upon arrival, you'll be in the beautiful Nubra Valley, known for its desert-like landscape, sand dunes, and the famous Bactrian camels. Check into your hotel or camp in Hunder or Diskit.

Turtuk Village: This is a day trip to Turtuk, a remote and beautiful village in the northernmost region of India, close to the Pakistan border. Turtuk offers a unique glimpse into the Balti culture and its stunning landscapes. Visit the village, explore the Balti homes, walk along the narrow lanes, and visit the Turtuk Monastery. Return to Nubra in the evening for an overnight stay.

Shyok Valley: Start early and head towards Pangong Lake via the Shyok River route. The road is rugged but offers breathtaking views of the barren landscapes and the mountain ranges. The drive can take around 6-7 hours depending on the road conditions, but it’s an incredibly scenic route. Pangong Lake: Upon arrival, relax at the lake’s edge and enjoy the clear blue water with mountains surrounding it on all sides. This lake is famous for its changing hues and beautiful scenery. You can spend the night at campsites near the lake (or in a nearby guesthouse, depending on availability).

Morning at Pangong: Start your day by taking in the early morning beauty of the lake, as the light reflects off the water and mountains. Head back to Leh via the Chang La Pass (5,360 meters), which is one of the highest passes in the world. Arrive in Leh by evening.

Relax and Explore Leh: Depending on your flight schedule, you can spend the day in Leh to do some final sightseeing or shopping. Leh Market: If you haven’t had the chance earlier, this is a great time to shop for local handicrafts, woolens, or Ladakhi shawls. You can also visit any remaining sights you missed earlier, such as the Hall of Fame Museum or Shey Palace.
