• Distance: 165 KM / 6 hours • Route: The route through Shyok is scenic but quite rugged. It offers a beautiful drive through the Shyok River valley. The road can be challenging, especially after the rains, so ensure your vehicle is in good condition. • Activities: o Reach Pangong Lake, famous for its stunning colours and the beautiful landscape. o Spend time near the lake and enjoy the breathtaking views. You might want to take a short walk along the shore.
• Distance: 155 KM / 5 hours • Route: The drive to Hanle is relatively remote, and you'll need permits to visit this area, as it is near the Indo-China border. • Activities: o Explore the Hanle Monastery. o If you're a stargazing enthusiast, Hanle is home to the Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the highest observatories in the world. The clear skies make it an excellent location for stargazing.
• Distance: Approx. 235-250 KM / 7-8 hours • Route: The route will take you through Chumathang, famous for its hot springs, and across scenic landscapes. • Activities: o Stop at Chumathang and enjoy the natural hot springs. o Continue your drive back to Leh. o On arrival, you can relax or explore local markets for souvenirs.
